Der Mann mit dem weißen Kittel schrieb Zahlen auf das Papier. Er machte ganz kleine, zarte Buchstaben dazu.

Dann zog er den weißen Kittel aus und pflegte eine Stunde lang die Blumen auf der Fensterbank. Als er sah, dass eine Blume eingegangen war, wurde er sehr traurig und weinte.

Und auf dem Papier standen die Zahlen. Danach könnte man mit einem halben Gramm in zwei Stunden tausend Menschen tot machen.

Die Sonne schien auf die Blumen.

Und auf das Papier.

Everyone has a sewing machine, a radio, an icebox, and a telephone.  What will we make now? asked the factory owner. 

Bombs, said the inventor.

War, said the general.

If there’s no other alternative, the factory owner said.

The man with the white coat wrote numbers on a paper.  In addition, he wrote very small, delicate letters.

Then he took off the white coat and tended the flowers on the windowsill for an hour.  When he saw that one flower had withered, he became very sad and cried.

And the figures stood on the paper.  According to them, in two hours one could kill a thousand people with half a gram.

The sun shone on the flowers.

And on the paper.
